Catholicism Series - Ep 7 - Word Made Flesh, True Bread of Heaven (Liturgy & Eucharist)

Links previously posted:

  • The Eucharistic Miracles of the World - Website created by the newly-canonized teenager Carlo Acutis with links to Eucharistic miracles.

  • The Eucharistic Miracles - Article by Fr Roberto Coggi, O.P. on the website above.

It gets a little technical, but tries to make the point that the flesh and blood present in Eucharistic miracles are not literally Jesus's flesh and blood, but rather signs of His flesh and blood, just like the "bread" and "wine" are after they are consecrated. In both cases, it's the *substance* that is the actual flesh and blood, and the *accidents* are what we perceive with our senses. The confusing thing thing is that in the miracles, the accidents are human flesh and blood with similarities to Jesus's (rare blood type, signs of physical suffering). But they are not part of Jesus's literal body, because then they would have been cut out of His literal glorified body in Heaven.

Couple other links related to aspects of the Church we discussed:

Cavadini - Church is the Sacrament of Christ's Solidarity, Sacrifice, and Love for the World -  Addresses "The world was created for the sake of the Church" and Church as "universal sacrament of salvation"
