Jewish Roots of Catholicism & Experiences of Jewish Catholics

• The Ancient Jewish Roots of the Catholic Church (video) - John Bergsma, Old Testament scholar who works at the St. Paul Center with Scott Hahn, makes the case that Christianity and Judaism aren't two things that are connected, but rather two parts of a single whole that have historically been given different names. He then talks about his book Jesus and the Dead Sea Scrolls: Revealing the Jewish Roots of Christianity (link below), in which he sees the Essene community as being a bridge between the two "parts".

• The Coming Home Network (videos & articles)- Huge selection of resources including 48 episodes of The Journey Home with personal stories of Jews embracing Catholicism, along with 12 written testimonies.

  It gets a little technical, but tries to make the point that the flesh and blood present in Eucharistic miracles are not literally Jesus's flesh and blood, but rather signs of His flesh and blood, just like the "bread" and "wine" are after they are consecrated. In both cases, it's the *substance* that is the actual flesh and blood, and the *accidents* are what we perceive with our senses. The confusing thing thing is that in the miracles, the accidents are human flesh and blood with similarities to Jesus's (rare blood type, signs of physical suffering). But they are not part of Jesus's literal body, because then they would have been cut out of His literal glorified body in Heaven.
